City of Georgetown shuts down just after noon.

Georgetown- As APNU supporters traverse the city on bikes minibuses and cars, shouting victory slogans, the busy Regent street was locked down. All businesses closed off operations and sent workers home. Trakkernews reporter visited several areas in the city and various public schools. The situation was tense as parents flocked the schools to collect their children. The word was that angry protesters flocked the city and was causing disruptions.The police cordoned off several areas in the city and maintained a heavy presence. One incident reaching Trakkernews is that the vehicle owned by the husband of Foreign Affairs Minister Carolyn Rodriques was stripped and destroyed by persons right infront his work place.

The entire day rumours have been rife about several incidents including discrepancies in the counting of the ballots. However, these rumours have been dispelled by Gecom and security personnel. The final results of the elections are expected by 6 pm and there is much fear that civil unrest may break out, since the PPP/C seemed poised in taking the presidency. Already there is much anger by APNU supporters who are claiming that efforts are afoot to rig the election. A claim that is strongly being condemned by Gecom officials, who say that all political parties representatives have witnessed the process. As the count continue to be published showing The PPP/C closing in on victory, tension rises.
