Chutney-Soca singer Ravi B pleads “not guilty” to inciting crowd to violence

San Fernando: Chutney-Soca star Ravi Bissembhar pleaded not guilty today to a charge of encouraging members of the crowd to throw missiles at the Chutney Soca Monarch Finals.

Bissembhar appeared before Magistrate Alicia Chankar at the San Fernando Fourth Magistrate's Court today along with his attorneys Sophia Chote and Michelle Solomon to answer the charge.

The charge, which was issued by way of summons in August, stems from an alleged incident on February 19th when the crowd began throwing missiles on stage. The crowd is said to have thrown the missiles on stage after being told to do so to show that it was not pleased with the results.

This came after Rikki Fai was crowned Chutney Soca King. Bissembhar placed second with his song "Cyar Come".

After pleading not guilty today before the magistrate, the 28 year-old Chutney Soca star was told to reappear in October for the matter to proceed.

  1. The funny thing in this fiasco is that he clearly stated to the crowd to throw something on stage if they weren’t pleased with the results. There’s video evidence showing the same and then he pleads not guilty? This guy really lacks a basic level of intelligence. tsk tsk tsk….
