Cement Company cites 20% increase in sales

Georgetown: Amidst rising prices, the construction sector is booming and Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL), Guyana Inc. says that the company is capable of meeting the increasing demand.

Plant manager Mark Bender says there has been 20 percent increase in the local sale of cement in the last year.

Development of the building sector has many positive effects, with big impacts on the country’s economy, saving the unemployment situation and driving home ownership.

Government has called for contractors to explore the possibilities of constructing homes differently by using alternative building materials. Government is working to have a further 30,000 new house lots distributed by 2015; increase access to low cost financing for home construction, and examine additional ways for improving occupancy in new housing areas.
