The Ministry of Public of Public Works and Communication – Works Services Group/Sea Defence Division are calling on citizens to take all necessary precautions during the spring tide period of December 2nd to December 9th, 2010. The predicted tide indicates above normal levels for the impending period.

Areas that are possibly at flood risks are East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara, West Bank Demerara, Mahaica and Leguan.
 

Police Headquarters, Eve Leary-The crime fighting unit of the Guyana Police Force is now further equipped with more mobile capacity following the addition of 20 rough terrain scrambler motorcycles from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The scramblers come at a time when there is increased armed robberies. In his address at a simple handing over ceremony at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee said  that this addition is a measure which the Government feels will keep the crime situation under control and keep the criminals at bay. 

 A public viewing of the late Winston Shripal Murray was held at 10 am today at Parliament Buildings.

Among the gathering were members of parliament, Government officials and members of the public.
Viewing and tribute followed by a church service will be held at 3pm at the St George’s Cathedral.
The Eulogy will be done by Mr. Kads Khan.

Grappling with the usual build up of unsolved cases for almost a decade, the police may finally put the lid on quite a few unsolved matters with the capture of a key criminal, who is confessing to his involvement in a lot of crimes dating back 2009. He is expected to be charged Monday for multiple crimes committed, including arson, murder, robbery under arms among other attacks on government offices during 2009.

 Linden-Minister of housing and water Irfan Ally told residents at Linden, Region Ten, that the Ministry has located two areas Bay Rock and Blue Berry Hill for the allocation of over 800 house lots. The areas were known for squatting and will now be regularized. The Minister disclosed that more than $10M is budgeted for the regularization process and titles will be issued.

Port of Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing has slammed the legal process pertaining to street dwellers.
Eighty four street dwellers who were taken off the capital city’s street on Thursday appeared in court yesterday. They appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar and Senior Magistrate Lucinda Cardenas-Ragoonanan during a special sitting of the court.
The charges laid against them ranged from loitering to possession of paraphenilia for drug taking.
