Call for drivers to respect cyclists

Bridgetown.

President of the Barbados Motorcycle Club Raymond Belgrave is calling on drivers to give more respect to motorcyclists.

Speaking to the media after a memorial for deceased cyclists Patrick Thompson yesterday, Belgrave said most drivers have no respect for motorcyclists.

He admitted that some motorcyclists behaved recklessy on the road but warned that is not a reason for drivers not to be courteous.

"There are both riders and drivers who are negligent but the average motorcyclist rides rides with safety and precaution", Belgrave said.

Four motorcyclists have died in road accidents during the past four weeks.
