Brothers arrested for shooting of mini bus driver earlier today

Georgetown : Two persons were arrested this afternoon for the shooting to death of a minibus driver earlier today.

The two are, a member of the Guyana Defence Force Curtis Vasconcellos and his brother who killed a route 32 minibus driver identified as Telroy James.

In a statement to the media, the police stated that James was driving BTT 976 when he stopped to put off passengers whom he picked up along the McDoom public road on the East Bank of Demerara when the incident occurred.

As one male passenger was about to disembark the bus, two males, one armed with a handgun, pounced on the unsuspecting passengers and began to rob them.

The driver after observing what was happening attempted to drive away and he was shot in the back. Persons rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
