Barbados can overcome its financial and economic challenges say Stuart

Bridgetown.

Prime Minister Fruendel Stuart, in his Independence Day message  has expressed confidence that Barbados can overcome the economic and financial challenges it is facing. Stuart praised the tripartite alliance that has worked together on fighting the crisis.

He said the Social Partnership, involving the Government, the trade union and employers had been meeting the economic challenges successfully.

"I would like to thank the employers and the trade unions for being faithful to the cause of Barbados during this continuing global downturn. I would like to thank them particularly agreeing to be part of the Barbados Action Team which I set up in February this. I applaud the work they have been doing on the three working groups set up to deal with growth, efficiency and the social safey net", Stuart said.

He added that the alertness of the Government , the efforts of the social partners and the patience, the intelligence and the understanding of Barbadians were a sure guarantee that the island would continue to withstand the worst effects of the crisis.
