Berbice : Last night five men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun, broke through a window and into the home of Mohabir Paras, 35 years, at Anchorville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, and held him up along with his reputed wife Sunita Beir, 31 years.
The perpetrators assaulted both victims and took away a quantity of jewellery, a cell phone and $10,000.00 and escaped.
During the robbery the armed man discharged rounds from the verandah of the building and Rookmin Beharry who resides nearby was hit to her chest by pellets. She was treated at the Port Mourant Hospital and sent away.
Two men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
