Georgetown : APNU Presidential Candidate, Brig. (ret’d) David Granger and APNU official, Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine, accompanied by Executive Members of the Guyana Youth and Student Movement (GYSM), visited the Bourda and Stabroek Markets on today and distributed fliers and encouraged vendors and shoppers to attend the Rally planned for the Square of the Revolution on Friday 29th July 2011.
Some vendors used that opportunity to register their complaints about several issues including high cost of living, low market standards and unsatisfactory vending conditions.
Granger had met with some of the vendors on Tuesday 19th July 2011 who had expressed concerns about the conditions of the markets.
Mr. Granger had emphasized then that vendors played a vital role in the economy and they should be accommodated in improved premises.
Mr. Granger stated “when we get into Government we are going to provide markets that you can be proud of…we are going to rebuild our markets”.
