Another Wild Adventure completed as the Third South Rupununi Safari culminates

Safari-1Georgetown: A convoy of six vehicles departed Georgetown on recently signaling the start of the third South Rupununi Safari which culminated on Saturday

During the six day expedition, the adventurers would have travelled a total of 1000 miles across diverse terrain and had the rare opportunity to experience nature at its best.

The journey took travellers through 14 Amerindian communities; they were  afforded the chance to observe and understand the way of life of the residents there.

They convoy also passed through the Wapishana Village of Shea, where the participants enjoyed the stunning views of the Bottle Mountains, Shiriri Mountains and the imposing Kanuku Mountains.

Prior to their departure, the group assembled in front of the Rainforest Tours Office, located on Avenue of the Republic and met with the Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Mr. Indranauth Haralsingh who reminded of the significance of the journey.

He explained that the promise of adventure and excitement continues to lure more participants to join in this fantastic journey. The Safari also afforded tourists a grand opportunity to meet new people, develop friendships and create lifelong memories.

Some other highlights of the trip included a visit to Dadanawa Ranch, the chance to see over 400 species of birds, and a visit to the corral to see the vaqueros tame wild horses, brand steers and round up cattle.
Fifty persons, inclusive of Guyanese, Surinamese and Trinidadians, embarked on the ‘adventure of a lifetime’ which continues to be a success thanks to the collaborative effort between the Tourism Ministry / Guyana Tourism Authority and Rainforest Tours.

The participants also distribute medicine  and school supplies to the communities they pass through.
