$90M repairs for 200 schools

Port-of-Spain: Over 200 schools are under repairs this July-August vacation at a cost of $90 million. The work is being done by the Educational Facilities Company.

Speaking to members of the media during a tour of the Ghandi Memorial Vedic Primary School, Education Minister, Dr Tim Gopeesingh says the money has been allocated for the work to be done.

Minister Gopeesingh is also boasting that the award of contracts for the schools was the most transparent ever. Dr Gopeesingh says his ministry has requested a further $400 million from the Finance Ministry.
 
Meantime Dr Gopeesingh says the Education Ministry is on a drive to launch special schools and to this end he says 1,000 will begin training from September at these institutions.
