$55M expended on unproductive tenth Parliament

ParliamentGeorgetown: Productivity of the tenth Parliament has been poor as data show that over $55M expended to facilitate the sittings of the National Assembly during the first fourteen months of the session.

The $55,991,860 was spent on meals, transportation and subsistence for Parliamentarians.

During this time, 13 of 39 bills have been given assent by President Donald Ramotar. In comparison to the corresponding period of the ninth Parliament, 29 of 31 bills were passed and assented to by then President, Bharrat Jagdeo as tax payers are made to fund these sessions.
