LBI Sugar workers protested for less days work.
More than fifty workers who are planters at the LBI Sugar estate today stage a protest action at the Estate’s office calling for their regular four days work. Presently at the estate it is out of crop time and the planters would normally get four days work but are only getting one or two days per week now.
The media monitoring unit (MMU) within the Guyana elections commission ( GECOM) might not be in effect for the schedule 2011 general election in Guyana . A MMU spokesman said the unit has funding from the United Nations Development Funds (UNDP) until the next general election.
