Tunapuna: The Chairman of the Tunapuna Regional Corporation Khadija Ameen is urging citizens to be wary of purchasing avocadoes in the region after it was confirmed that a caretaker injected over two thousand avocadoes with a poisonous substance.
The man confessed to the police that he had grown tired of the continuing theft of the fruit and he took the drastic action.
Ameen said that while the corporation cannot identify every affected fruit, it wants the public to be wary and alert.
Corporation police officers have been going to the market to try to identify the fruit to ensure that they are not sold to unsuspecting consumers.
