Woman appoint new President of the Senate

Bridgetown.

Senator Kerryann Ifill is the new President of the Senate of Barbados, her appointment was announced by Prime  Minister Freundel Stuart during his contribution to the Estimates Debates in the House of Assembly this afternoon.

The new President of the Senate was born in 1974, she lost her sight at the age of five after her juvenile cataracts developed complications and the retinas became completely and irreversibly detached.

Senator Ifill was appointed Deputy President of the Senate at the State Opening of Parlament in Febuary 12, 2004, she is a graduate of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, and also holds an MBA from Durham Business School.

Senaror Ifill replaces Sir Branford Taitt who resigned last week due to ill health.
