West Indies has the intiative on the second day of the First Test

Captain Darren Sammy played an  attacking innings to give the  West Indies the intiative at the end of day two of the first Test aganist at  Zimbabwe Kensington Oval.

At the start of play this morning the West Indies was 18 for 2, the overnight batmen were  Chris Galye on 11 and Darren Bravo had not yet scored.

A clever piece of swing bowling by Kyle Jarvis give the visitors their first wicket of the day when  Bravo was  dismissed caught at the wicket by Regis Chakabra.

The dangerous Marlon Samuels joined Galye who was in full flow, the big left handed batsman played a number of entertaining shots until he was out for 40 runs off 76 ball..

Shivnarine Chanderpaul joined Samuels who was in a attacking  mood, stroking the ball to both sides of the wicket until he played one shot too many and was dismissed for 51 in the last over before lunch with the score on 144.

After lunch, Denesh Ramdin joined Chanderpaul at  the  wicket, 7 runs later the gritty left hander was out for 26 .The  West Indies were struggling at 156 for 6, when the captain joined Ramdin at the crease.

Sammy plundered the bowling, his 73 runs came off 69 balls with eight 4s and four massive sixes , he was severe on leg spinner Greame Cremer, powering all over the ground. Forty seven of Sammy's runs came off the 28 balls he received from Cremer, 

He and Ramdin shared a 6 wicket partnership of 101 when Sammy was dismissed the West Indies lead was 45.

The West Indies were all out for 307, Ramdin made 62, from 130 balls with eight 4s. The West Indies were all out for 307 a lead of 98.

Jarvis bowled an impressive spell of swing bowling and finish with the outstanding figures of wickets for 54 runs from 17.2 overs.

Zimbabwe in their second innings are for 41 for 3, the batsmen out are Tinotenda Mawoyo, Vusimuzi Sibanda and Hamilton Masakadza.

Off-spinner Shane Shillingford has two wickets for 9 runs and fast bowler Shannon Gabriel the other wicket.
