Webster re-elected PSC chairman

Ronald_WebsterGeorgetown: Ronald Webster was on Tuesday re-elected chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC.)

Competing against Webster was President of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Clinton Urling. The votes were 16 – 4 at the PSC’s Annual General.  Urling is the current President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

Mr. Ronald Webster has had a long and distinguished career in the private sector and brings a wealth of experience to bear in his current role as Chairman of the Private Sector Commission.

Mr. Webster started his career at the Booker Group of Companies and became the youngest Managing Director of the company.  He has also been Managing Director of Technology Investments and Management Inc and is currently the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Container Inc.

Mr. Webster served as President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association from 1997 to 1999 and is the holder of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association.  He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Private Sector Commission from 1998 to 1999.

In addition to the time that he has spent heading various private sector companies, Mr. Webster has utilized his expertise on many Boards including that of the Bauxite Industry Development Company Inc where he served as Chairman of the Board from 1999 to 2005. 

Mr. Ronald Webster also served as Director on the Board of the National Agricultural Research Institute up to 1992 and Chairman of the Board of the New GMC also in the period up to 1992.  He was also a Director on the Board of the Aroaima Mining Company from 2004 and served as Chairman of the Board of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission from 2005 to 2010.  He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Kwakwani Utilities Inc.
The Private Sector Commission of Guyana was established in 1992 by five Private Sector Associations with the aim of bringing together all Private Sector Organs and Business Entities under the purview of being one National Body.
