Venezuelans sentenced for armed robbery

Georgetown: Five Venezuelan nationals were today charged when they appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson at the Georgetown Magistrate Court, for an armed robbery in the Wenamu River, Cuyuni, on April 4, 2012.

Jonathan Benitez, 20 years; Juan Munoz, 20 years; Josau Medina, 19 years; Jhosmel Jose Eurealuces and Ramon Berudez, 18 years, were each charged with five counts of robbery under arms, and in addition Josau Medina was charged with unlawful possession of arms and unlawful possession of ammunition.

They were each sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to the charges.

Josau Medina was additionally sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and fined $10,000 for the unlawful possession of arms and unlawful possession of ammunition.
