Unrest continues in Linden

 

Linden : Several persons including employees of the Public Works Ministry, the Guyana Forestry Commission and miners passing through the town of linden to access the interior were stopped and beaten by groups of people identified as street protesters.

Tires are burning across sever main roads and roadblocks are set up at strategic points avoiding vehicles passing through the town.

TrakkerNews understands at the time of this report, the joint forces are engaging with protesters to bring order to the community.

Wednesday last police open fire on protesters there killing three people and injuring several.

The protest stemmed from information reaching the mining community that the tariffs paid for electricity would increase. The Government has since denied the increase and claims that Lindeners were misled.
