Two police officers are under investigation for stolen lap top

Georgetown : Two Police Constables are presently under close arrest after they were caught red-handed returning a stolen lap top computer to the owner who had given them a sum of money for the return of the article.

On December 24, 2012, a taxi-driver and his three passengers were held up by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, at Haslington North, ECD, during which two lap top computers, a quantity of jewellery, three cell phones and a sum of cash were taken away from the victims by the perpetrators who escaped on a motor cycle.

During yesterday  police investigators received information that the two Police Constables had approached the owner of one of the computers and had received a sum of money from him for the return of the computer. The computers had not been recovered by the police investigators during the course of the ongoing investigations.

 

A sting operation was set up and the two ranks were found with the stolen lap top in a house at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

 

The investigations are continuing.
