Two new Knights

Bridgetown.

Chief Justice Marston Gibson and retired Professor of Economics at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies Dr Frank Alleyne received knighthoods in this year's Independence National Awards.

Sir Marston was awarded the Knight of St Andrew for his contribution to Barbados and at the international level.

Sir Frank knighthood was conferred on him  for his outstanding contribution to education especially at the tertiary level to the people of Barbados.

Sir Marston, 58, holds Bar membership in several jurisdictions, including Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad and Tobago.

Sir Frank, 74, spent 36 years working at the University of the West Indies, and retired in 2004 having attained the rank of Professor of Development Economics.
