Two more murders take toll to 78

Arima: Two more murders have pushed the murder toll for the year to 78.

The latest victims are Marvin Patrong and Jeremy Joseph.

Patrong was shot to death just after 11 am while at work on Steel Road behind the Arima Race Track.

Police reports are that a man riding a bicycle rode up to Patrong and shot him several times.

Patrong who works with a contractor at the race track ran a short distance and collapsed. He died at the scene.

No one has as yet been arrested in connection with the crime.

Meanwhile last evening 24-year-old Joseph was allegedly stabbed to death by a relative during an argument over the use of a car.

Reports are that Joseph and the male relative  were at their River Estate home in Diego Martin at around 10.30 pm when they started arguing. Joseph was stabbed.

Family members rushed Joseph to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died at around six this morning.  

Investgators say the relative wanted in connection with the murder gave himself up today at the St James Police Station.

There were 91 murders recorded for the same period in 2011.
