Three shot dead by Police in Linden Protest

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force have opened fire on a crowd of several thousand people in Region 10, Linden.

Thousands of Lindeners this morning commenced a five day shutdown of the mining town to protest an electricity tariff hike that was imposed at the beginning of this month.

Reports are that at least at least three persons have been killed and several others injured.

One person has reportedly been shot in the stomach and another in the back.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that an at least one media personnel was also injured in the fracas.
