Three former coast guards to face death penalty for 2009 murder

Georgetown : Although Guyana has not enforced the death penalty In 15 years,   three former members of the Coast Guard were tuesday  sentenced to death after being found guilty of the murder of 24-year-old gold miner Dweive Kant Ramdass. He was robbed of $17 million and his body was dumped into the Essequibo river by the coast guards men who were on duty at the time. He was left to die. A 12 member jury returned the unanimous guilty verdict at the Suddie High Court, Essequibo. The incident took place in 2009.
