Third accuse in cocaine in lumber trial remanded

CANUGeorgetown: Businessman, Keith King who operates a pawn shop was today charged in connection with the over 700 pounds of cocaine found in a lumber shipment in February last.

He appeared before Georgetown Magistrate, Alain Wilson and was refused pre trail liberty. The 46-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the charge. He will make his next court appearance on May 7, 2013.

Customs Anti Narcotics Unit and the Drug Enforcement Unit in collaboration with the Guyana Revenue Authority in February carried out a search on a container filled with lumber and discovered 700 pounds of cocaine neatly wrapped and stashed in the pieces of lumber. The container was destined for Europe.

Three weeks following the cocaine bust, two persons were charged in connection with the case. Keith King is the third to be charged.
