Tax incentives for ITC companies

Bridgetown.

Government is providing tax incentives to further encourage the use of information communication technologies in Barbados.

This assurance was given by Minister of Industry, International Business Commerce and Small Business Development, Donville Inniss.

Speaking at the DIGICEL sponsored ICT conference, this morning at the Barbados Hilton, Inniss said the Government has already signaled its intention to reduce the cost of internet and broadband access to householders by providing an income tax deduction for domestic internet and broadband service.

He  said the Government has also pledged to provide fiscal incentives to promote the establishment of commercial ventures which will lead to the creation of a vibrant cultural industries sector, including the film and music industry.

Chief Executive Officer of DIGICEL Barry O'Brien told the conference with the mobile market already saturated mobile market telecommunications providers are paying greater attention to other information and communication technologies.
