SSA workers being place at risk

Bridgetown.

The garbage disposal  habits of some Barbadians continue to poise a health risk for the workers of the Barbados Sanitation Service Authority. (SSA)

Communications Manager of the SSA Carl Padmore, told Trakker News despite several pleas and public awareness seminars cpnducted by the Authority, members of the public continue to put in garbage bins, things which are not suitable for disposal in that manner.

"We have been encountering body fluids in garbages tins on a regular basis, dead animals and other biological material that is not supposed to be placed there. When this happen every week and the lorries have to be compacted on the streets, the smells are awful because people are not disposing  their waste in the correct manner",  Padmore said.
