Small profit for BNB

Bridgetown.

The Barbados National Bank (BNB) recorded a profit of 4.04 percent, in the first half of its 2012 financial year.

According to its financial report, the bank posted an $11.96 million consolidated net profit after taxes for the six months ended March 31, 2012.

Operationg income rose slightly to $67.8 millons. loan impairment expenses declined from $10.7 million to $8.9 millon.

Total assets of the BNB stood at $2.3 billion on March 31,$30 million or 1.33 percent , more for the same period last year.

Chairman of the BNB Ronald Harford says that the plans to change the bank's name to Republic Bank (Barbados) Limited are advanced and the new brand will be launched in July.
