Berbice : Six persons are in police custody as the police are investigating a robbery that left one person dead and another nursing a gun shot wound.
Davendra Deodat called ‘Dave’ 34 years, of Lot 72 Hampshire Squatting Area, Corentyne, Berbice, was shot and killed during a robbery at his home by armed bandits last night, while Rafeek Abdul, 47 years, of Lot 63 Williamsburg, Corentyne suffered injuries.
According to the police in the Ancient County, the perpetrators entered the premises when they were confronted by Davendra’s daughter who raised an alarm. Davendra intervened and was shot to his chest, while Rafeek Abdul who arrived at the home on a visit was also shot to his left hand and abdomen by the perpetrators while escaping.
The gunmen escaped with $560,000.00, one gold band, a laptop computer and one cell phone.
