Shot bandit identified as ex-prison officer

Georgetown: The alleged bandit who was shot and killed Tuesday morning in the vicinity of Giftland Mall at Liliendaal, East Coast of Demerara has been identified as Tryodon Munroe, and ex prison officer . Munroe was dismissed from the prison service on March 1 2017 for reportedly staying home without leave.

Reports indicate that a businesswoman and her bodyguard came under attack and the bodyguard opened fire, killing one of three robbers. A vehicle later dropped off one of the robber at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Investigators said that the businesswoman was escorted from the Eugene F. Correia ‘Ogle’ Airport with gold and cash when they were being trailed. They came under attack when the vehicle decided to stop on the public road to make a purchase to a food stall. There, a KGM Security Service guard opened fire and struck the suspected bandits.
