Shaik Baksh back at GWI

Guyana: The Chairman and Board of Directors of the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) disclosed that former Housing and Education Minister, Mr. Shaik Baksh is appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Nation’s Water Utility.  Mr. Baksh who has commenced his official duties, stated that his immediate focus will be to propel GWI to greater profitability and enhance the quality of service provided to customers country-wide.  “My extensive years in Guyana ’s water sector have provided me with unique insight into areas which are currently under performing,” stated Mr. Baksh, “for GWI to succeed it must begin implementing tools for increased revenue as well as improving the service which it provides to customers”.   

 Mr. Baksh previously held the office of Minister to two critical ministries; he had the portfolio of Minister of Housing and Water from 1998 to 2006 as well as Minister of Education from 2006 to 2011.
