Georgetown: A security guard of Ramada Princess Casino and two others involved in the recent robbery of the casino were on Friday charged and remanded to prison. Twenty-nine-year-old Wayne Griffith of Bagotsville, 30-year-old Junior Stewart of Kitty and 29-year-old Andre Blackman were jointly charged for the armed robbery. The robbery charge was read to the men by Chief Magistrate Ann McClennan. The prosecution’s objected to bail and they trio will return to Court on May 20. The Court heard that the trio along with others, raided the Casino on April 29 and robbed two staff members of a total of $8.9 million, property of the Casino. All three men were represented by Attorney George Thomas and Mark Conway who told the Court that their clients were abused while in police custody.
The Attorneys asked for the men to be independently examined by a doctor. The number one accused, Wayne Griffith, was nabbed moments after the robbery inside the Casino along with a firearm. The Security Guard, Andre Blackman, was arrested two days later when the police investigators were informed of his alleged involvement. Police investigators believe that the security officer was the mastermind of the robbery and may have been the one who pulled the team together to carry out the heist. The third suspect was arrested in a house last Sunday with a large quantity of wet cash and valuables that investigators believe were taken from the Casino and its patrons.
