Second largest party in Government complains about police raid on Newsday, journalist’s home

Port-of-Spain: The Congress of the People has lodged a formal complaint with the Police Complaints Authority, against the failure of the Commissioner of Police to give an account of the police exercuse conducted on the Newsday and the home of political journalist Andre Bagoo.

The party's chairman Joseph Toney delivered the letter at the authority's Park Street office this morning.

The complaint is seeking answers into the police's conduct in the raid on the media house, and is also requesting a full investigation to ascertain why there was a need for the issuance of a search warrant and the manner in which the search was conducted.

Last Friday, COP Political Leader Prakash Ramadhar gave Commissioenr of Police Dwayne Gibbs a 24-hour deadline to submit a full report on the incident.
