Rough times ahead

There are challenges facing Barbados but the Government is doing its best to managed the economy.

That was view expressed by members of the Government at a meeting of the Social Partnership held at the Hilton Hotel yesterday.

A source who attended the morning session chaired by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, told Trakker News representatives from the Private Sector suggested that more could be done by the Government to turn the economy around, while members of the trade union movement stated their opposition to any measures which would negatively impact on the workers.

Several Government  officials made presentations at the meeting, among them were the Governor of the Central Bank Dr Delisle Worrell, who retiterated the importance of having adequate foreign exchange in the economy and indicated the bank was open to ideals.

Head of the Private Sector Association John Williams said the meeting was a useful exchange of views on the challenges the economy and country were facing.
