Relationship between lawmen and the public must be improved

Bridgetown.

The Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite says the relationship between members of the Royal Barbados Force and the public needs to be strengthen.

Speaking in the House of Assembly yesterday Brathwaite said there has been some damage done to he relationship over the years.

"I have been saying to the senior members of the RBDF that they must place more officers on the ground and in the communities, to build a relationship between the public and police officers", Brathwaite said.

"Do not send them into the communities when there is an upsurge in violence, send them now, let them work with various social groups and families placing the emphasis on community policing once that is done, we should see an reduction in crime", Brathwaite added.
