Georgetown: Young jobseekers from Region Three Wednesday benefitted for a capacity building seminar, organised by the Ministry of Social Protection, Central Recruit and Manpower Agency (CRMA).
The workshop, which was held at the Region Three regional office instructed participants on proper resume preparation, interview techniques, work ethics, labour laws, and functions of the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA) and the Board of Industrial Trainings (BIT).
President of the Region Three Chamber of Commerce, Halim Khan pointed to the fact that many of his generation were not afforded the same opportunities as the youths today.
“So, we want to prepare you for tomorrow’s future. It is important that we empower our youths, give them the necessary tools to succeed,” Khan said.
He also urged them to enroll in institutions such as the Leonora Technical Institute to develop the necessary skills to match the labour market.
“Your livelihood is a serious matter and you need to use the creative part of your brain to explore the realm of possibilities,” Khan said.
Regional Executive Officer (REO), Dennis Jaikran in his address noted the that it was necessary for job seekers to be prepared, in order to be successful at a job interview.
“This workshop will take you to another level. If you look at the programme, the exercise that you will participate in and the various presentations will give you an opportunity to move from one upstream to another.”
Jaikran also encouraged the participants to take advantage of the many other training opportunities being offered to them and be mindful of those activities which may negatively impact on their lives.
The Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency is a division of the Social Protection Ministry that registers applicants for employment, taking specific note of their occupational qualifications, experiences and desires; it evaluates, if necessary, their physical and vocational abilities. Its objective is to place individuals seeking jobs in suitable employment while providing career guidance and counselling.
