The activity is part of the National Clean-up and Beautification Campaign, which started last month in Georgetown.

On Sunday the event saw collaboration between the Regional Democratic Council; the various Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDC); R3PSi and other local businesses and citizens.

Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar and China’s Ambassador to Guyana, Guo Haiyan also joined the Head of State for the exercise.

Head of the Region Three Private Sector Inc., Halim Khan said the President’s enthusiasm and drive to provide a clean, healthy, and litter-free environment has reverberated throughout the country, resulting in numerous communities joining in.

Khan noted that the highlight of the activity was President Ali’s impromptu stop at the ‘fish market’ in Windsor Forest, where he interacted and mingled with fishermen.

He disclosed that the President also purchased fish from the men, which he fried for persons who had participated in an intensive exercise.

The President’s cooking, he said was well-received, and persons praised him and revelled in the “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity of being cooked for by a President.

“The Head of State also took the opportunity to interact with residents, listen to their concerns and provide on the spot solutions,” Khan added.

Khan said over sixty palm trees and flowering plants were planted along the La Grange and Schoonord Public Road.
