QC teen gets watery demise

Georgetown: A 13-year-old Queen’s College student met his demise yesterday after saving his niece from a watery death. The lad, Anand Ramdeo, who hails from Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, went missing after rescuing his six years old niece after the boat they were in capsized during a boating expedition in a creek at the St. Cuthbert’s Mission.  His body was recovered some two hours later and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital some time after 19:00 hrs yesterday where he was pronounced dead.

Reports are that the lad and other family members had visited the location for an outing when the unfortunate tragedy struck.  The Second Form student was said be a high achiever and was listed as one of the top achievers at the Grade Six Assessment.
