Georgetown: A delegation comprising representatives from the private sector and the Government of Guyana are meeting up in Cuba for the 35th staging of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV) 2017, from October 30 – November 3 in a bid to improve business relations between the countries.

President of the Guyana-Cuba Solidarity Movement (GCSM), Haleem Khan met with Guyana's Ambassador to Cuba, Mr. Halim Majeed and other Guyanese and officials in Cuba for the event.

He said a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is expected to be signed between the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, at a scheduled meeting of the two bodies during the Havana event. He said the delegations will use the event to expand the horizons of their businesses while seeking exposure for what Guyana has to offer to not just Cuba, but the rest of the world.

“The actual trade fair will provide excellent opportunities for our local businesses to network with not just with Cuban companies, but other countries around the world,” Khan said.

He explained that the Guyanese delegation will be able to approach any sector and other businesses to share their many experiences in developing various industries. The Cuban government has also been training, free of charge, large numbers of our young people every year.
