Public spirited persons caught armed bandits after robbing an E.C.Dem. resident.

 

East Coast Demerara : Two men are in police custody and charges will be laid shortly after being apprehended with an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of stolen cash and articles.

A police report stated that just after 1:30 today Ramoutar Amin of Bee Hive, East coast Demerara, was at home when two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered his home through an open door. He was held at gun point but managed to raise an alarm which attracted nearby residents and also an off-duty policeman who was in the vicinity at the time.

The police rank and the residents pursued and confronted the two perpetrators who had taken away $100,000.00 and an ipod from the 56 year old Amin. They were subsequently arrested and an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver with three live rounds was recovered along with $85,000.00 of the stolen money.
