Georgetown: After a few hours of escaping from the Georgetown Magistrates’s Court lock ups Monday afternoon, Vickram Persaud was shot and killed by police. Persaud was on trial for the murder of police constable Michael Cumberbatch who was shot dead on September 23, 2013 in Sophia.
He received shots to the stomach and chest area. Persaud was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Earlier that day four prisoners made the escape from the lock ups but one was recaptured moments later. Two remain at large and wanted by the police
