Primary School burns; several shot as Linden violence escalates

The ‘One Mile’ Primary School in Linden was in the wee hours of this morning burnt to the ground, even as the Joint Services has commenced another operation aimed at clearing the blockades in the mining town.  

There are at least two in custody in connection with the suspected arson of the Government Building.

Regional Chairman of Linden, Sharma Solomon has condemned the current joint services operation in Linden as “madness.”

There are several reports unconfirmed reports that several persons have been shot as police have over the past few hours been shooting several can so tear smoke canisters.

There are also reports of live rounds being used.
