Georgetown: President Donald Ramotar paid a visit to the children’s Christmas fete held Saturday afternoon at Friendship, East Coast Demerara (ECD.)
Approximately 400 children from Buxton, ECD attended the event along with children from surrounding villages. The event which is in its 18th consecutive year is hosted annually by 89-year-old Elaine Mc Neal of Friendship Village, ECD. The Children received gifts and were treated to meals and ferris wheel rides.
Elaine Mc Neal returned to Guyana 27 years ago from the United States and started the event to assist and help children to feel the Christmas spirit.
Mrs. Mc Neal, mother of Presidential Advisor Odinga Lumumba, told reporters at her home that she was delighted to be given the opportunity to celebrate with children.
