President of Miners Association undergo surgery after being chopped by bandits.

Georgetown: The Georgetown seawall is no longer safe for early morning joggers, who make the trek between Texaco gas station and Pegasus every day. President of the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association Charles Da Silva, popularly known as one hand Charlie was attacked and robbed by bandits in the early morning hours after he went jogging. According to Mrs. Da Silva speaking to Trakkernews today, her husband is still in the intensive care at a private hospital after undergoing surgery for a severe chop to the head. She said that the doctors have confirmed that no harm was caused to the brain as a result of the chop. Charles Da Silva was approached by a individual at the seawall opposite the Texaco service station, where he sat after his early morning exercise. The man proceeded to snatch his chain when Charles grabbed him. Reports are that a car pulled up with another suspect who emerged and dealt a chop to Charles head before the two escaped. The injured was able to identify the license plate number of the car which was given to the police. An investigation has been launched as police are on the lookout for the car with the number PMM 5357, a Toyota Allion. It is believed that Charles may have been targeted since he has a morning routine at the seawall and always wears his chain.
