President hosts Indigenous leaders at Statehouse reception

Georgetown : Toshaos and other Indigenous leaders joined President Donald Ramotar and several Cabinet ministers for a reception at Statehouse. The event was an opportunity for the delegates of the National Toshaos Council (NTC) meeting to interact on a personal basis with the President and his Cabinet, in an informal setting.

Welcoming the delegates to his official residence, President Ramotar reminded them that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” and since they all had a few days of work ahead, and it was a time to relax and enjoy themselves. Over 200 delegates from across Guyana are attending the biennial National Toshaos Conference at Liliendaal. Over three days, Toshaos, village councillors and other community leaders are given the opportunity to meet sector ministers and other government officials to discuss issues affecting their communities and seek solutions to challenges facing them.
