PPP staged picket outside US Embassy in solidarity with the Palestinian in Gaza

Georgetown : The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) today participated in a picketing exercise outside the United States Embassy in Georgetown to show solidarity with the people of the Palestinian State.

Among other groups represented were the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG), Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Association (GAWU) and the Guyana Rice Producers Association (GRPA).

The grouping was unanimous in its calls for the immediate cessation of violence against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

A PPP statement says “a call was also made for the United States of America and the European Union to make a more concerted effort to halt the military campaign of large scale bombings of the Palestinian people by the Israeli military which has claimed many civilian lives.

Greater effort must also be made by these nations to not only pressure Israel to restart peace negotiations between these two states but also ensure that these engagements are meaningful by demanding tangible results.

Any attempt to stall such negotiations should be met with strong sanctions by all nations.

The suffering of the Palestinian people has gone on for too long and must end now”.
