Postal officials on the lookout for illegal packages

Bridgetown.

Postal official in Barbados are doing they best to intercept illegal packages, says Postmaster General of Barbados Joel Brathwaite.

"We are doing our to the best of our ability. We acknowledge that the Post Office should be used as a conduit for illegal drugs or contraband, so we are doing our best to maintain the integrity in the system", Brathwaite told Trakker News.

Yesterday, a woman was arrested by the police after three dismantled firearms and a quantity of ammunition were found in a package she went to collect at the General Post Office, Cheapside,Bridgetown.

According to Public Relations Officer of the Royal Barbados Police Force Inspector David Welch, a number of people are attempting to use the Post Office to smuggle drugs into the island.
