Police sceptical about driver’s story during gun battle with criminals.

Georgetown: The driver of a  white Toyota Raum motor car PMM 6292 remains in custody as police continue to probe Friday night's robbery and shootout with a gang of criminals. Investigators say that the driver's claim that he was kidnapped by the armed gang is hard to believe since the sequence of events and his revelation of what transpired does not add up. They are sure that he is an accomplice in the attack on a businessman in D'Urban street and subsequent gun battle with police in the Cummings Lodge area. Trakkernews had reported on Friday that a man was hospitalised after being shot  just around the time of the shootout. However it is not confirmed whether he is a gang member. Police during the sweep at the crime scene found blood stains, suggesting that one of the bandits was hit. The police carried out a search of the vehicle and found a 9mm. pistol with 15 matching rounds, a Ruger 40 automatic pistol and 40 spent shells, and a sum of cash.
