Police on the hunt for two men and cash in last night’s $2M robbery

Georgetown : The police today are following leads to apprehend two gunmen who were part of a $2M robbery last night that left one man dead.

Last night at around 9:30 pm the police responded to a 911 report that shots were being fired in America Street, Georgetown, by armed men using motor vehicle PNN 124.

Police patrols were quickly informed and ranks of a mobile patrol later saw the motor car in Sussex Street, Albouystown. As the police approached the vehicle they came under fire from the men who had exited the vehicle and the ranks returned fire.

Three of the men managed to escape, while Odel Chase, 22 years, of James Street, Albouystown, sustained injuries and subsequently succumbed.

A police report stated that earlier at about 9pm. money changer Harold Francis of Quamina Street, Georgetown, had been attacked and robbed at America Street by three men armed with firearms who took away a bag with over $1M and escaped in PNN 124. The men discharged rounds into the air as they escaped.

Further investigations disclosed that PNN 124 was a false registration number used on the vehicle. The correct number is PMM 2122 and the car was allegedly stolen from the driver earlier in the evening by two men armed with firearms during a stop at a traffic light along Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.
