Police Force rebranded Police Service

Georgetown: The Guyana Police Force has been renamed the “Guyana Police Service” and all ranks from constable to Commissioner’ will receive the relevant training overseas.

This was announced Monday by Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee. He said the new change comes under the Strategic Plan for the Guyana Police Service 2013 to 2017. It was further noted that the new plan was implemented through a contractual arrangement with the UK based Consultants, Capitol Simmons and the Implementation Plan was developed by the US based, Julian Wade Consultants.

There now will also be a 30% budgetary allocation for the service instead of the usual five percent for local training. This, he said will cost $35M annually.
